Last Call…The Smorgasbord Is Closing Its Doors

After 40+ years, the Smorgasbord Radio Show has finally run its course. With the passing of our co-founder and creative collaborator Dave Jackson, we feel it is time to retire the Smorgasbord brand name and start an entirely new chapter. We would like to thank everyone who tuned in at one point in time or another over these many decades to listen to our crazy antics and unique observations of pop culture. The origins of the show go back to 1982 when the Chris and Dave Smorgasbord show aired on suburban Chicago high school radio WDGC-FM. In 2010, nearly 25 years after the final radio show was aired, Chris relaunched the program as The SmorgShow Podcast with his daughter, Ally.

For the next 15 years and almost 200 episodes, the show incorporated many of the same elements and spirit of the original show, but was adapted to fit the ever-evolving social media culture. After Ally grew up, got married and moved out, Chris was left to figure out how to keep the show going. Enter Jerome Malauskas, our resident Chief Conspiracy Correspondent, who took over the role of co-host for a good portion of the later episodes.

With the 2024 passing of Dave, Chris thought it was time to retire the SmorgShow and create a new spin-off series, Chris & Jerry’s Supper Club. For those familiar with the Smorgasbord Radio Show, the format will be familiar yet unique. We promise to provide engaging conversation as well as new features as the show gets off the ground and moving forward.

We will soon release a farewell SmorgShow Podcast episode to wrap it all up prior to the end of the year. And of course, we reserve the right to keep the door slightly ajar and release new content from time to time under the SmorgShow banner, if we feel the content fits with the Smorgasbord brand.
